Marshall Moseley and Jean Dotterweich in Love Letters

Clip from Death of a Salesman YCP TheaterWorks’ mission is to provide our audience with diverse, quality theatrical entertainment that nurtures and challenges our actors, directors and production personnel.

Celebrating its 49th year of continuous operation, YCP TheaterWorks is the oldest community theater in northern Westchester. The group began in 1959 when a handful of theater-lovers decided to put on a play. That play was The Male Animal, the first of more than 160 to follow. Originally known as the Yorktown Community Players, the group has entertained thousands and offered the opportunity to perform, direct, and work backstage to countless others. A not-for-profit group, YCP was incorporated in New York State in 1960. The leadership has changed over the years, but the dedication to bring exciting classic and contemporary drama to the community lives on.

The current season opened with the riveting suspense thriller Night Watch by Lucille Fletcher with Triple Play: Three One Acts about Theater following in early 2009. The Philadelphia Story will close the season with May performances. A special performance of Bloody Murder to benefit the new building fund was on April 14.

YCP TheaterWorks always holds open auditions. No roles are ever precast. Performers return again and again to audition because they love the friendliness of the group. Everyone has fun and there is a real family feeling. The current production site is the Van Cortlandtville School Theater, Route 6, Mohegan Lake, NY.

The Board of Directors consists of 15 members and there are currently 50 non-board members. The President is Maureen Howard, Administrative Vice President is Anne Rodgers Pearl, Technical Vice President is Marshall Moseley, Secretary is Michael Muldoon and Treasurer is Melinda O’Brien. The group is always looking for community residents who want to be involved in theater, both on and back stage. For information on how to become involved call 914-528-4145. YCPTW also invites prospective directors to submit proposals for the 2009-2010 season.

YCP TheaterWorks is a proud member of The Theatre Association of New York State, The New Yorktown Chamber of Commerce and is listed with the Charities Bureau of the Attorney General’s Office of New York State.
